Vinyl composition tile and glue-down luxury vinyl plank are bonded to the surface, while click-lock luxury vinyl plank uses an interlocking system. These differences affect the removal process and the condition left underneath the floor.
We remove old vinyl floors, clear the site, and prepare the underlying surface for the next phase. Our work focuses exclusively on removal and preparation. We don’t provide flooring installation services, so contractors and property owners can coordinate the new floor separately.

How We Remove Vinyl & Prepare the Subfloor
Lifting the visible floor is only part of the process. Adhesive, backing, and residue also need attention before the exposed subfloor can be evaluated.
Our standard floor removal process includes:
- Protecting the job site: We cover or isolate adjacent flooring, walls, and HVAC vents before removal begins.
- Lifting the old floor: Our technicians remove the material from the designated area.
- Removing underlying materials: Adhesive and thinset removal are included in our standard service.
- Clearing remaining residue: We clean adhesive, backing, loose particles, and other residue from the work area.
- Inspecting the subfloor: We review the exposed surface for remaining material and visible conditions.
- Finishing the preparation: We leave the subfloor scraped, shaved, and vacuumed for the next project phase.
Backing and residue can affect the condition of the surface beneath the old floor. The final inspection identifies material that still needs attention and documents the exposed subfloor before replacement proceeds.
